BSOB Excels at the 2024 EPCOT Flower and Garden Show

BSOB members have 8 trees on display at the 2024 Walt Disney World EPCOT Flower and Garden show. There are three BSOB penjings on display in front of the China Pavilion (a new location this year). Over in the Japan pavilion BSOB members have 5 bonsai trees. Here are the trees BSOB members exhibited.

Dwarf Jade penjing by Antonio Castillo. This is the first year AC has displayed a tree.
Cuban Laurel Fig forest penjing by Rob Kempinski, BSOB president. This is the 24th year in a row Rob has had a tree on display in EPCOT.
Brazilian Raintree penjing by Ronn Miller. Ronn is a former BSOB President and BSF President.
A Surinam Cherry by Cosette Perdue
Bald Cypress by Dr Reggie Perdue in the Japan pavilion by the tori. Reggie is a former BSOB President
Dwarf Jade by Scot Stewart in the Japan pavilion Zen garden. Scot is the current Treasurer and former BSOB President.
Headache Tree (Premna) raft in the Japan pavilion meadow path by Rob Kempinski. The tree will put on many more leaves as the season warms up.
Paper Flower tree (Bougainvillea G) by Dr Reggie Perdue. The tree was defoliated for the start of the show. The tree will put on any more leaves as the season warms up.

Millions of people see these bonsai and penjing during the Flower and Garden show. Probably the most viewed bonsai exhibition of any in the world each year. There are 20 other trees to see so make it a point to check out the beautiful Flower and Garden show at EPCOT.

Start thinking about what tree(s) you can submit next year. EPCOT likes trees to have at least one dimension of 30 inches, but that is waiverable to 24 inches if the tree has presence. The key is to get a good photograph of your larger trees. Try to pick a time of year when the tree looks it best. It does take a bit of planning.
